Hell Hath No Fury
|
The title of this episode is taken from the quote:
"Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned
Nor hell a fury like a woman scorned."
That's from a play "The Mourning Bride" by William Congreve.
Susan is hosting a talk when an irate man barges in, insisting he get help investigating a building collapse that killed his young son. Spenser comes in and defuses the situation, but then a guard shoots the man and kills him. Spenser decides he wants to figure out what really happened.
Once again Spenser is KISSING A WOMAN!! This time it's the TV reporter who is apparently feeling old and shabby. And this is Susan's friend, too, who was kissing Spenser! And all Susan says when the woman tells her is "don't do it again". Spenser was never going to tell her! Sheesh.
It turns out the construction work really was shoddy, and the reason they know is that the secretary had been having an affair with the guy and got grumpy when he didn't follow through with it. She was scorned, and she decided to take him down out of revenge.
I'm just not that keen on this one.
