No Remorse
2010 / Hallmark / Jesse Stone

No Remorse is NOT the title of any of the actual Jesse Stone novels. By this point the Tom Selleck version of the character has taken on a life of his own. He is still true to the basics of the Jesse Stone in the novels, but he has played him enough times (this is the sixth movie) that he has settled into the skin, so to speak, and has made him his own.
No Remorse begins with Jesse Stone *not* being the chief of the Paradise police department. He is morose, hangs out with his dog, and even disconnects himself completely from Jenn. He tries to support his two friends in the police department without getting them in trouble. Apparently there's a wild killer who is beating up on people who run liquor stores and convenience stores. Unless his police department pals figure things out, they will be canned too.
In the meantime, there's a serial killer in Boston and Lt. Healey comes in to get Jesse's help (mostly to get Jesse out of the house). Jesse deals with gays, discovers a love triangle, and in essence sets up an execution. Then he subtly helps out with the convenience store killer and allows his PD friends to take the credit.
The movie ends with him walking back into his hearing about his job, but there's not a strong indication of which way things will go. One would hope that he'd be rehired, although as far as the town council knows, he had nothing at all to do with solving the case.
Lisa Says: Normally I'd compare the movie to the book but here there's no correlary. So I'll just comment on the plot line. Yet again we have Jesse hanging around a young teen girl!! What is up with that! He has NO other love interest at all, which is perhaps good since women who get near Jesse end up having nasty things happen to them. He attracts disaster. The scene with Hasty's ex-wife coming on to him so hot and strong was a little over the top. I do like that he finally admits that he had actual homocidal thoughts about his own ex-wife's lover, since that was something they really "tamed down" in earlier movies but which was made quite clear in the books. |
Traveling in Jesse's Footprints You can see the Barrington Place Shops from the garage, and in the final scene you can see McKelvie's. Both are Halifax locations. |
