Taming a Sea Horse
Robert B. Parker
Published 1986
Spenser is back in New York looking for April Kyle, a la Ceremony. Patricia Utley has "lost" her - turns out she was "recruited" by a guy who claims to love her but really is just a pimp. She fell for it. Spenser ges information from someone in the same situation, Ginger, and feels sorry for her. Soon, though, Ginger is killed, the pimp is killed, and April vanishes. What's a guy to do?
Spenser tracks down the resort that held April, the bank president who used her, and cuts a deal to free her in exchange for not bringing down "Mr. Milo"'s bank system. He even gets a little help from Tony Marcus in the process. And, of course, Hawk.
Lisa Says: Susan's missing from the front of the story, except as a reference to her now having a practice back in the Boston area. Spenser's at his best rescuing helpless maidens and taking out their "protectors". But who is this Mr. Milo? Where did he go? And April barely appears through the whole story. It's more the theory that she needs help. At the end she walks in, cries, and he takes care of her.
