Angel of Desolation
|
An intriguing racial issue. A young model is worried she's in trouble - but in short order it's her wealthy husband who is slain instead, and all fingers point at her. And then is that her hugging the hired help?
It turns out that the wife has a few "drops of black blood" in her and this seems to be upsetting to the others around her. It's so odd to me that this type of thing went on and still goes on in some places. She is smart, beautiful, and mature. What does it matter at all who or what her family is?
The sister-in-law makes a really rude comment about the woman, too. Something about "she wouldn't have to go back to her kind" as if it was the ultimate tragedy to avoid.
I love how Spenser, the knight in shining armor, goes racing out when she calls him for help.
