An intriguing epidode. It's apparently a spy novel with a high-powered sniper rifle. Spenser barely protects the target, then goes to talk with the woman's sister. She doesn't know what's going on. Spenser soon realizes that the two women are really just one woman with a split personality. He draws in Susan to help figure this out.
I felt a little iffy about Spenser and Susan in this episode. Last episode they had a quite serious interlude about abortion. Then here right at the beginning they're super-flirty, jealousy, and acting fairly silly. The episodes don't play well back-to-back.
So Spenser works on the split-personality woman and gets her to provide them information. They realize a prominent official is to blame for some of this. They are able to expose him.
I admit I kept thinking of gollum with the whole duo-personality thing going on.
