Making a Twitter Post
Let's talk about the process of tweeting a post.
Your Post is Seen on your Profile Page
Anyone who goes to your page to learn more about you will see your post. Your posts are sorted in time order with the most recent post on the top. So if you make five posts on Saturday, all five posts will be on your page, with the most recent one on top.
Your Post is Seen by your Followers
Your followers have the option of seeing every single post made by every person they follow on their homepage. This is what I call the "firehose" - the massive flood of tweets of every single person being followed. Most of the time this isn't practical becauuse there are just too many posts, once you move past following a few hundred people. But the post is there. It's in that stream.
Your Post is Seen by Hashtag Watchers
Let's say you made a post like this:
#FreeEbook - a Cozy Mystery perfect for dog lovers and art lovers! http://www.amazon.com/Sniffing-Out-Crime-Mysteries-Detective-ebook/dp/B014OI77PY/ #CozyMystery #ShortStory
This post will be seen by all the people who are watching the hashtags #FreeEbook, #CozyMystery, and #ShortStory. That can be thousands of people!
Your Post is Seen by All Followers of a Retweeter
Retweets are an incredibly powerful way to expand the reach of a post. Be sure to read about retweets!
