Irish Movie ListingI've always loved Irish history and culture - on our trips to Ireland we've enjoyed seeing the beautiful lands which served as backdrops to these fine movies. Of course, we had to dodge the many fake tourist traps along the way! "The Field" pub. "The Quiet Man" Inn. Ah well ...
Please feel free to Contact Lisa if you have changes or additions! I'd love to get reviews on movies I haven't been able to track down yet.

QA Quiet Day in Belfast: 1984. Starring Barry Foster and Margot Kidder, the drama has twin Irish Catholic girls in Northern Ireland. One of the twins falls for a British soldier.
The Quiet Man: 1952, 129m. John Wayne as Sean Thornton, and Maureen O'Hara as Mary Kate. The movie was filmed in Cong, between Lough Corrib and Lough Mask (between Mayo and Galway). Ashford Castle, seen in some shots, is on the shores of Lough Corrib. Mary tended her sheep on what is now their golf course! The horse race (much unlike any other I'd seen!) was at Tully Strand on Connemara, and Thornton's cottage still stands at Teernakill in Maam Valley. The movie won two Oscars, one for cinematography. A must see, it's quite funny (stereotypical) in its portrayal of Irish folk.
