Irish Movie ListingI've always loved Irish history and culture - on our trips to Ireland we've enjoyed seeing the beautiful lands which served as backdrops to these fine movies. Of course, we had to dodge the many fake tourist traps along the way! "The Field" pub. "The Quiet Man" Inn. Ah well ...
Please feel free to Contact Lisa if you have changes or additions! I'd love to get reviews on movies I haven't been able to track down yet.

Milo O'Shea stars in a movie about a Dublin youth who escapes harrasment at home in an entertaining way.
Clark Gable stars in this tale of the man and how his political career was ruined. Good historical movie - a must for someone looking to understand recent Irish history.
Patriot Games (1992)|
Harrison Ford, Patrick Bergin. Not really in Ireland (except for a brief scene or two). An ex-CIA man accidentially aborts an IRA splinter group hit and is targeted by them for the rest of the movie.
Sqatters trying to share an area of Dublin have their lives revealed in an exceptional manner.
The Playboys (1992)
Aidan Quinn, Albert Finney and Robin Wright star in this tale filmed in County Cavan, and set in 1957. Oh, let's see. It has ... a woman with a bastard child! She won't "Name the Father"! A carnival comes to town and she falls for one of the gypsies and considers running off with him too! A classic blend of all of the standard Irish stories we keep seeing. Was Colm Meaney in here somewhere? A subtle tale - watch for the many dead-on acting jobs by these actors and actresses, who portray well what life in a quiet Irish village was like.
A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man (1979)
The classic James Joyce coming of age story tells of Stephen growing up in the early 1900s and his struggles with faith. Directed by Joseph Strick.
