LinkedIn is about building and maintaining a business online resume with your network of contacts. It is really critical that you have a photo of yourself in there, to help with that branding. People remember a photo, and if they meet you at conferences and networking events it is the photo that will trigger their memory.

Make sure the photo is CRISP and in focus. Many people use giant resolutions so your photo will be small. Make sure the background is plain and uncluttered. If you can get a professional photo done, that will be good for you for many reasons.

If you set up an entry for your business, the same applies. Make sure it has a clear design, is well done.
