Location for Knowing Yourself
In Knowing Yourself, the defensive keep is located on a cliff in the upper northwest area of England, right up against the Scottish border. This was a challenging location to live for many reasons. Pirates would sweep in from the sea to steal food and valuables. Reivers would raid down from Scotland to take what they felt was rightfully theirs. Living in this area meant knowing how to defend yourself and being prepared at any moment for an attack from any direction.
When the Romans were in the area, they created a giant wall - Hadrian's Wall - across the Scottish border to try to keep the raiders out of England. However, after they left, it fell into disrepair.
