Meeting with the Captain - Pride of America

At 3pm I went down to the John Adams coffee bar with my origami paper. I had been told on the phone that the meeting would be 3pm, but by email that it was 3:30. I figured I could spend time folding shapes if I did have to wait a half hour.

The waitress asked if I wanted something, and I asked for herbal tea. She brought it, and a bill. I found that a little odd since tea is free everywhere else on the ship, but no big deal, it was maybe $1.50 I think. I gave her and another waitress an origami flower. Soon Mr. O'Hara stopped by, and we moved to a table in the back of the area to talk.

I had a wonderful hour talking with the Captain and Mr. O'Hara about a number of topics relating to the Pride of America and environmental issues. I have to dig out my notes and will post that all soon. Both men were very well spoken, very knowledgeable about the topic and very intelligent about a range of Hawaiian topics.

Bob showed up near the end of our talk, and joined in the conversation. He asked them about the 3:30am power outage, and they were surprised we'd been awake for that :) They said the system is very redundant and that the cut-overs started happening automatically, immediately.

When we were done, we headed back up to the room.
