South Side - Chilkoot Charlies
The South Side area of Chilkoot Charlies has two different bars. One is an ice bar, while the other is modelled on the Berlin Wall and Communism, complete with Sputnik spacecraft.
First, the ice bar. This area is dressed up to be full of icicles and snow. You get the theme - certainly this is very appropriate for a bar in Anchorage, Alaska!

Next, the bar itself. Kept under protective coverings during the non-prime hours, this is an actual block of ice. They serve shots in ice blocks as well.

I normally might have been quite impressed - but I've stayed at the actual ice hotel in Quebec, Canada. The bar there was *incredible* - carved from ice, with ice serving dishes, ice tables, ice chairs, you name it. It was sort of sad that a bar in a super-cold place like Alaska couldn't have an ice bar!

In any case, the other half of this room was dedicated to the Berlin Wall and communism.

From here you could either return back to the patio, or head up the stairs to the Russian Tea Room.
