Quebec Ice Hotel Photos and Notes
Heading Home
Jenn drives like a madwoman so even though we left the ice hotel north of Quebec at 10:05am, we managed to get home around 4pm. Hmmmmmmmmmm. We didn't get into cell phone range until we hit Quebec, so Bob had to wait until 10:30am to hear I'd survived the night of cool weather :) Really it wasn't bad AT all. The sleeping bags were toasty warm, it was really quiet even though we went to sleep while the bar was still going. The snow was a perfect insulator. It was like sleeping in a cozy coccoon.
Oh, and where the Boston Globe writer had said the "room lights kept her awake", we found that turning them off with the provided light switch solved that little problem :)
OK, so we drive the 20 minutes back to Quebec. Here's the bridge to get back across the river.

Then MILES and miles of flat frozen tundra, with nothing around for miles.

There was one cool restaurant with dinosaurs out front, about halfway through the Canadian part of our trip. I only managed to get a picture of a few of them.

More frozen tundra, and the "Prudence" sign that we saw along the way, warning about happy deer that bound across the road gleefully.

We crossed the border, had more McDonalds in Newport, and then it was easy driving from there. The land almost immediately got much more mountainous with all sorts of gorgeous vistas.

We were very happy to be home again - but this is the trip of a lifetime as far as cool memories and photos!
