The Kindle ships with a really nice cover -



You just slip the Kindle into that spot. There's an elastic band built into the back to loop over the front of the cover to hold it securely shut and to hold the Kindle within it.

Not that you don't read the Kindle with the cover on. This is just for transporting it, to keep the unit safe. There is a padded area that rests on the screen, to keep it healthy.
