Bellissimo Spa, Worcester
I'd never really been to a spa before, or gotten a massage, so I talked to a friend of mine and we agreed to both go in for a half day at a spa in Worcester. I called around to various spas to see who had time in the next few weeks, and Bellagio said they did. The man I talked to on the phone had a heavy accent but I had a list right in front of me and went through what we wanted - seaweed wrap, massage, parrafin treatment. You have to go in a mini-mall to get to the spa area, but it is very nice, with wood accents. The workers all seem to be Russian. As I am Ukrainian, I thought this was great! We were led into separate rooms for our work. Each one was small but nicely laid out. I really enjoyed the seaweed wrap, with gentle music playing and pleasant aromas. But the therapist asked if she could do my eyebrows while I was there anyway, and I said sure. Little did I know that I was now going to be painfully tortured during my 'relaxing' wrap!! Ah well.
I took a shower to get the seaweed off, and went on to the parrafin. I didn't realize THAT was so super hot too! I used to stick my finger in wax candles as a child to get the little 'fingerprint' that resulted, and this was just as painful but involved the entire foot. I had no idea why this was thought to be a good thing :) Not only that, but I do tend to have some hair on my toes. Apparently thinking that I couldn't understand what they were saying, one of the therapists began to giggle and in fact called over her friend to look at them. Even if I didn't understand the language, their pointing and giggling was rather obvious. It wasn't a very relaxing feeling.
We had our nails painted, which was nice. But apparently they got confused on the massage - and even for the parrafin we had to ask about it. It really seemed that they weren't very coordinated or had any idea what we had asked for. So it was sort of a struggle each step of the way.
Luckily, when I went back several years later, things were MUCH different and much improved. Read about the Current Bellissimo Spa Review
NOTE: I mistakenly originally wrote this up as the "Bellagio Spa" - my brain was confusing Vegas with Worcester :)
