Shiro Restaurant - Berlin MA
We visit Shiro about once a year, and typically find the service 'average' (usually it's amazingly slow), the sushi delicious, and the atmosphere quite laid back and delightful. In Japanese, "Shiro" means castle. You will find that there are many restaurants named Shiro around the US.Shiro isn't a steakhouse, it's a converted farmhouse on a back country road. The dining rooms reflect that farmhouse background. They are quiet and comfortable, with only a few tables in each room. In addition, there is traditional seating in the front area. this front area can hold perhaps 4-6 people with a low table - this was probably the "front greenhouse" area of the original farmhouse.

Just be prepared for a LONG evening. Do not plan to be in and out of here quickly.
One note - we tried to do a sake tasting here one evening and they were going to charge $15 per bottle (for six tiny bottles) for us to bring in our sake to taste. So this is NOT a BYOB restaurant.
