Tapestry - Carole King

There's a reason why some albums become classics, rediscovered and adored by subsequent generations. Tapestry is certainly worthy of the honors of being a classic. Created in 1971 by Carole King, the songs are just as powerful and meaningful in modern times.

Carole King Tapestry Carole King wrote her own music, and she played what she knew. In "So Far Away", she talks about how much she misses someone - but they aren't there any more. It's not just that they are distant in space ... but it was long ago as well. In "It's Too Late", she talks about how the relationship has faded away, and there's nothing that can be done to save it.

There are other songs for gathering hope. In "You've Got a Friend", the song sings about how the friend will always be there, no matter what day or time. "Where You Lead" talks about a true-blue love, where she will go whereever he does, to stay by his side.

There are songs about feeling joyful, songs about feeling sad, songs about the complexity of life. These aren't sugar-coated pop songs - they are songs by a mature, understanding woman who knows that life has ups and downs. She is multitalented - writing the words, singing the notes, playing the piano. James Taylor accompanies heron a few of the songs.

This is truly one of my favorite records of all time, and I keep a copy of the songs in my iTunes system.
