Using Web-Safe Colors
The web is a wonderful, colorful place. Most browsers are designed to only work well with certain colors, though. To have your webpage display well in the standard browsers, you want to stick with web safe colors. These are colors beginning with #000000 and ending with #FFFFFF. This is a hex system, meaning the numbers count

with A being 10, B being 11 and so on.
Each of these numbers (say CCFF00) is actually a combination of three values - the red, green, and blue parts of the color. While with crayons a color is mixed with yellow, red and blue, with light (say on your TV set) the color is mixed with red, green and blue. You can normally see those little colored dots if you look closely at your TV set.
So 00 in the first location means "no red". FF in the first location means "lots of red". Pure red would therefore be lots of red, no green, and no blue, or #FF0000.
