Plaza Azteca Restaurant Review

I suppose how you experience Plaza Azteca has to do with your expectations. I've been to Mexico several times and while I don't expect "fully authentic" Mexican food in Massachusetts, I do want it to at least be reasonably close. What you get here is quite Americanized and focuses on large servings rather than flavor. Also, the service was fairly poor. But if what you want is large portions for little money, you'll get that here.

First, the food. Yes, the portions were huge. We took a lot of leftovers home. But it was made as cheaply as possible. The burrito was stuffed with rice. The emphasis is on the filler ingredients and not the substance. My sangria seemed to be 90% fruit juice. I could barely drink it, it was so sugary.

Even inexpensive food can be presented well - but here it was as if someone barely took the time to dump it onto a plate. My appetizers were all slid to one side of the tray. There was loose meat everywhere. It showed a lack of care.

The waitress didn't know about things on the menu. I asked for extra sour cream - she brought none at all. Water glasses sat empty. Wine glasses sat empty. Again, it just showed a lack of care.

I was told by my friends I ate with that at least we could talk to each other without shouting while we were there. Apparently on other nights they have a band which drowns out all hope of conversation.

With all the awesome other options in the Worcester area, I just won't be coming back here.

Here's a photo of my appetizer. It was a complete mess when it came. I had to neaten it up substantially for this photo.
