Ken's American Dining Littleton Restaurant Review
When we try to meet up with friends in the Littleton / Ayer region, it seems like it's a restaurant wasteland out there. We bandy ideas around, but often we settle on Ken's as a place where we will be able to talk and the food is at least reasonable. This is definitely a casual restaurant. I've eaten here several times. The staples - things like fish & chips - are quite good. If you try to go for something fancy, involving special cheese sauces or such, you're likely to be disappointed. The salads are good but very plain - a bunch of lettuce, a tomato or two. The wine selection is OK but not extensive.
Usually there are not a lot of people in here meaning you're able to talk for many hours with friends and not feel rushed. We can actually hear ourselves here, which isn't true at many other restaurants.
The wait staff is friendly but not always clueful. You can ask for water and never get it. You might have to ask a second time for your drink. You aren't warned ahead of time of desserts that are not available; it's a guessing game to see what they'll come back and say are not available.
Because it's a family restaurant, the environment can be hit or miss. Sometimes it's relaxed and quiet. Sometimes there's a screaming birthday party going on. Sometimes the people next to you put a speakerphone in the middle of the table and the kids are yelling a conversation to their mother through it.
It depends what you're looking for. If you want a romantic dinner out with that special someone, this isn't the place to go. If you have a family get-together with kids and need somewhere the adults can talk while the kids can be kids, this is probably perfect.
