Mary Musgrove Family Home
Persuasion
Mary's home is an odd thing. Mary's family home is super elegant, the best in the area. Her husband's family home is equally a noble, large house. But they live in a farmhouse that was converted to be their home. So give their two backgrounds, it should be quite elegant if smaller.
The 1971 BBC version made it very "comfy down home". This does fit in with Charles' hunting and fishing, you could say, but I found it a bit TOO laid back. Gentlemen did a lot of hunting and fishing in those days, and they still lived an elegant life. For both of them to have come from very high end upbringings and then end up in a house full of little flowered wallpapers and such didn't make a lot of sense to me. I wonder if this is the house they had access to for filming and tried to go with it.

In the 2008 version it is much more a nicely furnished, comfortable home. Not elegant, still, but more what I would think of as a well appointed home, albeit a bit sloppy, in this time period.
