Admiral Croft

Admiral Croft is the person who comes to rent the Elliot family home. His wife Sophia is the sister of Anne's love, Captain Wentworth.
Admiral Croft is supposed to be rather handsome for a sailor, that Elliot approves of him. The 1971 BBC version doesn't do well with this. In this image you see more of Mary's home in the background, with its chintzy country-house feel.
His wife is nicely solid, and she dresses with an exotic flair.
He was reasonably done in 1995.
The 2008 version does a VERY good job with Admiral Croft - he looks and acts just as he should.
