Trigun 3 - Peacemaker

Vash's third episode helps us learn again that a first impression is often incorrect. We start by watching a drunk get roughly rousted from a bar. The next day, our two female insurance pals are having ice cream when Vash wanders by. Milly calls out to him, and he waves. Milly tries to show Meryl this proves he's Vash. Meryl counters that anyone would have responded to a call of greeting.

Next thing we know, the drunk has bashed into Vash and is throttling him in the street. Soon they're in a bar and Vash asks about Frank Marlin the gunsmith. Frank is a local hero - bandits attacked a while back, and Frank gave everyone guns to help fight them. Pretty quickly, Vash realizes the drunk is Frank.

The girls try to tell the Mayor that Vash must be around, and he laughs at the notion. The black cat strolls past the window at this point! He's everywhere :)

Bandits on a hill talk about an armored car coming to town soon, and they'll blame Vash for the attack. Zap back to town, where Vash and Frank are drunk and stumbling home. Meryl sees them and points out that the only ones who get that drunk are the ones who want to drown their sorrows and forget something painful.

Frank tells Vash, "You help someone, and then someone else suffers." You learn his wife and child were killed in a bank robbery - by men who he had given the guns to.

The next day, the bandits come into town and claim their leader is Vash. The two girls are forced to load money into his car. Watching from the side, Vash tells Frank that he is going to help out - just because "this situation is not equal." At a classic gun battle stance, suddenly the bartender comes out and holds a Frank Marlin gun to the bad guy. A few moments later, the entire town has their guns and surround the robbers. Off the robbers run!

A large party at the bar ensues, and Milly again insists that Vash must be the real Vash. As Vash heads out, Frank gives him his tuned-up gun and asks him what he plans to do with it. In his best Marines Voice, Vash barks out, "I intend to use it to create equality and peace throughout the world!" Frank says he's given up drinking, he has better things to do. I think we get a pretty clear anti-binge-drinking message from this one :)

Frank asks Vash who he is, and in response Vash gets sick from drinking too much and throws up! As Vash rides out of town, Milly and Meryl decide it's "convenient" to go in the same direction, and off they ride ...

Kuroneko-sama Sighting
