GunGrave
Gungrave is an anime series by the famous artist Yasuhiro Nightow, creator of the Trigun series. As in Trigun, there are blends between cowboy and space here, with a fascination of death added in.
Grave is the key figure in Gungrave. Grave is in essence a zombie gunslinger, who carries his coffin around with him and blasts away with fantastic weaponry.
The Gungrave game for the PS2 came out in 2002, and while the graphics were an instant hit with fans, the gameplay was not as enthusiastically received. In essence, Grave could rarely be hurt, never mind die, which took away from the challenge of playing.
Gungrave Overdose was a sequel game, with much better gameplay and graphics. It gave more backstory to the situation, allowing you to understand better just who Grave was and why he was on his quest.
The anime series is down and dirty, involving criminal gangs, theft and warfare. It watches as betrayals occur and friends turn on friends. In the end, all that is left is striving to do your best against all odds.
Highly recommended for mature audiences.
