Inuyasha
Inuyasha is an adult anime series which involves a Japanese setting with swordfights, demons, quests and adventure.
The story involves a 15 year old girl, Kagome, who accidentially goes back to feudal Japan. She falls down a dry well, a la Alice in Wonderland with her rabbit hole.
Kagome unleashes Inuyasha, a half-demon, and realizes that she is the reincarnation of the priestess who had first sealed away the creature. Inuyasha wants to become a full demon but needs four pieces of a sphere to do so.
There is a manga written by Rumiko Takahashi, as well as an anime TV series about this plot. There was even a movie released in 2002, with a second on its way. There's also a Playstation game featuring the characters.
Great for older teeagers and adults, but a bit violent and racy for the younger set.
