G-Force - Spectra - Zoltar - Galactor
In Gatchaman and Battle of the Planets, the enemy was very interesting. In the US it was Spectra. In Japan, it was Galactor.
The difference is even deeper than that, though. First, the Japanese original. Galactor was a terrorist organization based on Earth that wanted to steal all the Uranium for itself to cause a worldwide shortage of resources - so it could take over the world.
The main leader is not named. He is just the Leader.
His first in command is called Berg Katse. He is in a fox outfit and almost looks feminine. There are great myths in Japanese culture about devious foxes.
Under him is the ground forces commander, who pilots the Turtle Ship in Episode 1, and the Whale Ship in Episode 2. His outfit - and that of his crew - is much more cat-like.
Now for the US version. Since terrorists might be too "scary", the US made them into "space invaders" from far away! The leader gets all sorts of Chinese names like "Oh Luminous One", "Oh Great Galactic Ruler" and "Great Light of Wisdom". Not only that, but in Episode 2 he spouts out Chinese Wisdom!
His fox-like subordinate is called Zoltar, and the Cat-man doesn't get a name.
