Kuririn - Dragonball Character
When Goku first goes to Master Roshi for training, Kuririn is a Buddhist monk that also shows up hoping to be trained.
The two train together, overcoming many obstacles and learning to respect each other in the process. At the large 21st Tenkaichi Budoukai tournament, Kuririn makes it into the semi-finals.
As far as the food names go, Kirin is a Japanese beer. Also, Curry is a style of spice used in much of the far east.
