There was an Old Man with a beard

This fun poem was written by Edward Lear, who also wrote the famous Owl and the Pussycat. He lived from 1812 to 1888, and in addition to his poetry, he was also a well known painter of landscapes and birds. He even taught Queen Victoria!

There was an Old Man with a beard,
Who said, 'It is just as I feared!
Two Owls and a Hen,
Four Larks and a Wren,
Have all built their nests in my beard!'
