I love the Rio 600 - I have 2 of them - and they're super easy to load music on and off of. They take any MP3 files - which means when you're not listening to music at the beach, you can easily be playing various bird songs, and knowing exactly which kind of bird each song is! None of these prebuilt systems that only give you THESE TEN birds, five of which don't even live near you. No more buying new systems every time you take a trip somewhere.
Instead, you just download from the web (or get from your own hard drive collection) the bird songs that interest you. Going to the beach? Grab a bunch of local beach bird songs. Transfer speed to and from the Rio is super fast. Hanging out in your back yard? Load up just the birds that are likely to be there. Since bird songs are so small, you can easily fit 20 or 30 bird songs on there and still have tons of space left over for some music to listen to when you're tired of birding!
The Rio has been very sturdy for me - we've dragged them everywhere, dropped them, thrown them, and it keeps on running strong.
