Sky Trek Canopy - Monteverde
If you're in Monteverde to see the birds, but want a bit of excitement, take a look at the Sky Trek. You slide on steel cables going up to 60mph!
In essence you have a belt that goes around your waist and butt. That belt is attached to wheels - and the wheels are attached to the cable. They clip you in, you hold on, and they give you a push. You slide down the steel cable at extremely fast speeds, going high over the cloud forest.
You don't see a lot of birds like this. Heck you don't see a lot of ANYTHING except green flying past your head. But there is a fair amount of walking through the forest from spot to spot, and you hear a lot of wildlife around you. If you're going to the cloud forest with someone who wants some excitment, this might be the way to soothe them, so you can get your birding time in without much complaint.
There are also sky bridges in this same complex, so you can walk high over the forest floor, seeing things that only birds and monkeys have previously laid eyes on!
