Trapp Lodge - Costa Rica
If you're visiting the Monteverde Cloud Forest, I highly recommend the Trapp Lodge. It is the closest lodge to the cloud forest, and is gorgeous!
We decided to stay here after scouring the internet and looking through all of our options. The price in 2004 was only $70/night for us two. This lodge is only a short walk from the entrance to the cloud forest, and is built like a chalet. The woodwork is gorgeous! Here is our room -
Three twins and one queen bed, just for us. But heck, it's not the beds - it's the VIEW that makes this place amazing. If you get room #18, two solid walls of the room are wall to wall windows, with a view out on the cloud forest. It is simply amazing.
Not only that, but their dining area is also fine wood with a gorgeous long wall of windows. We got to get window seats at each meal, and it was spectacular.
We had other American tourists come back to see our room and they said they were paying over twice as much for a room only half as large. It really pays to do your research - and I would go back to the Trapp in a heartbeat. The staff was quite helpful, setting up birding tours, calling taxis, and handling other requests quickly and with a smile.
