Jacksonville FL Cruise and Stay Hotels
There are many hotels in Jacksonville, Florida which offer stay and cruise packages. These let people heading out on a cruise from the Jacksonville area fly or drive in the night before, get one night to rest up, and then park their car there while they are off on the cruise. Often the rates are so cheap that they easily come close to the $75/night that parking at the port itself can cost!In our case, we had a mix of criteria.
* people flying in, no car, needing shuttles
* people driving in, needing long term parking
* people flying in *just for the final lunch* - needing super easy & quick shuttles
Many of us would be staying at this hotel for a full day, with no way to leave. We wanted it to be somewhere at least reasonably nice to "hang out" in for hours on end. I.e. a motel with a grimy, small room and no other public areas probably wouldn't be appropriate.
Our final "farewell lunch" is squeezed between getting off the cruise ship and flying out of the airport. So the hotel should be somewhere fairly direct between those two spots; preferably near the airport side so there was no worry about getting from the lunch to our flights.
So we were looking for a hotel with:
* ideally near the airport
* free airport shuttle
* near / containing a restaurant capable of holding 20 people
* reasonably nice to "hang out in"
* free parking
* cruise shuttle
