Hartz Ultracare Conditioning Health Blend

Yet another marketing name strikes. Ultracare. It's like care - but ultra. They say this blend is fortified and they have a list of the vitamins it's fortified with - but the way most seeds are fortified is that the outer shell is rolled around in a vitamin mix. The problem is that parakeets hull their seeds - they remove that outer layer before eating the soft inner bit. So the outer layer is what falls onto the ground, uneaten. I'm sure the vitamins do great good there.

The best way to get vitamins into a keet is to feed them nutritious fresh foods like broccoli and spinach. This mix, when you look at it, is the standard seed diet. The ingredient list goes:

white millet, red millet, canary grass seed, rape seed, oat groats, sesame seed ..."

Lots of seeds. Seeds are nice, but they are only one portion of a keet's complete diet. So if you like to feed this to your keet because it has a nice variety of seeds, that's fine. I think you can probably get this same blend of seeds in a far less expensive mix, but that's up to you. Just don't assume this will be 'complete nutrition' for your keet. It's always important to give your keet a well balanced diet with lots of fruit, veggies and protein.
