Kaytee Fruit and Veggie Seed

This blend looks in essence like a herbal blend :) There are a lot of green leaves in there as well as a few seeds. It says clearly that this is a treat, so don't try to feed this to your keet as the sole thing they eat. It should go in an extra seed dish, as a special treat.

The main ingredients are dehydrated carrots, canary grass seed, niger seed, oat groats, small yellow millet, dehydrated apple, and red millet. So this isn't really chock-full of fruits and veggies. My keets like nibbling on the green leaves in here, but I'm not sure that they chew on any of the dehydrated fruit bits in here. They're too small for a keet to grab on with a foot to hold it still, and they are hard enough that simply trying to gnaw at it while it's loose in the food dish would be tough.

This might be reasonable as a way to start getting your keet to enjoy veggies if all they eat is seed, but even there I'd be uncertain. I would think a keet far more likely to enjoy a fresh, juicy leaf of lettuce vs this dried out tasteless green leaf bit. I suppose I might use this if I went away for a weekend on vacation, so they still had some greens, but for regular day to day feeding I'd much rather actually give them the natural leafy veggies and fruits.

My keets tend to eat all the seeds, nibble on a green thing or two and in essence leave 90% of it behind in the food dish.
