8 in 1 Ecotrition Tropical Fruit and Seed
I love it when marketing groups make up names :) Ecotrition. They say that this contains papaya, coconut and mango - I can just see the average parakeet eating a coconut in the wild :) They talk about this as a treat - to mix IN with the daily seed, not to give on its own as a normal meal. Most of this involves normal seeds found in all other seed blends. The ingredient list starts with white millet, red millet, canary grass seed, oat groats, flax seed, dehydrated coconut. Lower down comes the papaya and pineapple, all dehydrated.
Whether or not something was actually found in the keets 'ecosphere', keets of course love all sorts of fruits and vegetables. So now the question is whether they would like the dehydrated version or the natural version. In general I really find that my keets love the fresh, juicy versions of foods more than they like the dried out versions. The fresh, juicy ones are easier to eat, and have more flavors. In practice, I don't see my keets gnawing on the dried up white strips of coconut in this blend, for example.
I suppose if you had your keet on a very plain seed diet, I would start adding this in as a way to get your keet used to new flavors and textures. But that should be part of an overall plan to get your keet eating more fresh, natural foods.
