My camera makes short movies, so I've put some up here for you to see how parakeets move and act. Enjoy!
| Pinto (1.7mb WMV file) In this short WMV file, Pinto is sitting at the cage entrance with Nazo. Pinto is the blue bird on the left. He says a few chirps hello for you! You can also see how flexible a parakeet's neck is, he turns it almost 180 degrees. |
| Cage Top (5.3mb MPG file) This MPG file is a bit larger, and shows Nazo (the green bird) on a bathtub along with Santo (one of the blue birds). Nazo scratches her head for a moment, then dips a foot into the bathtub for a rinse. Santo then tries to get into the tub but gets stuck! |
| Bathing (3.2mb MPG file) This MPG file is medium sized, and shows Nazo (the green bird) splashing around quite happily in her bathtub. Santo (the blue bird) sees how fun it is and hops into her own bathtub for a rinse! |
| Courtship (4.9mb MPG file) Spring is when courtship behavior is at its peak, but it can happen all year round. It's not just male-female, it's female-female or male-male too. It shows that your parakeets love each other. Your parakeets can even try to court you, if they love you! In bird land, courtship means bringing your partner food. That's all they have to "give" each other. They swallow seeds, fly to their partner, regurgitate them and then feed the seed to the partner with their mouth. Parakeets don't have hands, this is their only choice! |
