Trappers Trail Bed and Breakfast
During our first trip to Alaska in 1998 we stayed at the Trappers Trail Bed and Breakfast, just outside of Anchorage, Alaska. The views were gorgeous, and the residents quite friendly!

Hans proved to be a very friendly and congenial host. After we greeted him, he and his wife led us to our room - and what a room! It was raised, and the entire west and north wall were pretty much window. Anchorage lay like a glowing jewel against the sea, while to the north, a hint of the Alaskan range shone.
We were here in September and would marvel at the morning view. There seemed an even mix of dark green pine and brilliant yellow birch - fall was in full swing here. The mixing of fluffy and spiky textures was wonderous across the Chugach mountains.

We took showers in the large bath and wandered up into the huge living room, which again overlooked Anchorage. Then we went onto the back porch and took pictures of the Canadian geese against the lake and huge mountains. One, Flattop, apparently is a favorite hiking spot for locals. They party on it at summer solstice (22 hrs light) and winter solstice (2 hrs light)!
Our hosts brought us way too much breakfast - bread, scrambled eggs with salmon strips, yogurt, more bread, coffee, you name it. We were stuffed.
We highly recommend staying at the Trappers Trail, especially during the fall! Between the front-facing view of Anchorage and the rear-facing gorgeous view of the Chugach mountains, you really can't go wrong.
