Chugach Mountains Anchorage
The Chugach Mounatins - pronounced chugash - are visible from pretty much everywhere in Anchorage. These mountains get up to 13,176 feet tall and are gorgeous all year round.

The original name for this mountain range in the Eskimo language was Chugachmiut. While Mount Marcus Baker is the tallest point, Flattop Mountain is equally famous at only 3,510 feet. Parties are held here at the summer and winter solstice!

Here are some more photos of the Chugach mountain range. No matter where you're driving around Anchorage, you can usually see the mountains in the background.

Sometimes they're hidden by clouds - and sometimes they're higlighted brightly against the blue sky.

Here are the Chugach mountains in the fall, clothed in yellow and green.
