Bellevue Washington Trip 2004 -
Saturday - Wineries and Seattle

On Saturday morning we woke up and checked out. Our first aim of the day was to drive a few miles north to the two wineries there. They are:

Chateau Ste Michelle - Review
Columbia Winery - Review

Once we were done there, we drove into Seattle itself. We drove around town for a while, then parked down in the bass guitar section. This was a 'tree lined street' shop area right up against a bad area of town. We actually went to two guitar shops here. One was an old-guitar shop which was fun but had little we wanted. The other was a big bass guitar shop which we did in fact see a lot of fine things in, and got some cables. The guitar Bob wanted had just been sold, though. Suspicious ...

Next we headed east. Seattle is of course known to be rainy and damp and is right on the ocean. Something like 80% of households here own a boat. But when you start east, you immediately go up into the Cascade mountains. Here are 10 photos of our trip up and over the Cascade mountains.

Once over the top of those mountains, the ENTIRE landscape changed. Now we were in a vast, dry desert, complete with tumbleweeds and dust devils in some spots. The only green was along the river valleys where things were irrigated.
