Wed Jul 14 - Visiting Alembic, Sonoma Wineries and my Cousin
The hills around Santa Rosa are just gorgeous, with tan grasses and green shrubs. The fog rolls down around them in white billows. We get some of my favorite breakfast at McDonalds and head over to the Alembic guitar and bass factory.

The area of Santa Rosa the factory is in is very industrial with car sales and factories. We parked in front of one concrete building and were thrilled with the hummingbird, catbirds, finches, and mockingbirds that abounded.

When I've had my bird fix, we went into the building quietly marked "Alembic".
Talk about a Throne of Power entrance. You go in this subtle door and are instantly greeted with hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of guitars in the entry way. We were met by the rep who began our guided tour. We began with the woods of all shapes and colors, ready for turning into guitars. We saw how they were shaped and pressed into multi-layers of acoustic beauty. We saw the painting and staining area, the finishing and shipping areas. Apparently a recent fire at a shipping case warehouse created a huge backlog of shipping problems.

Bob played a secret guitar that can't be shown.
Not only did we talk about guitars and basses for the next 4 hours, but many of them are on low carb diets. We gave them our Lindt "no sugar added" dark chocolate bar to try, which they loved. They also liked my Indian shirt and I pointed them at holyclothing.com. I bought Bob a black guitar strap and he concocted his plans for his custom guitar.
