Nantucket Island:
Sunday, July 4 1999
Actually, first off, we took the ferry here the night of July 3rd, the last fast ferry of the evening, which left amidst the Hyannis fireworks displays. We could see displays from neighboring towns as well.

The next morning, it was lightly raining, which I enjoyed immensely. I love rain in cabins, with the birds chirping from bushes. It was very refreshing.

Around noon it cleared up, and we sent the kids and men off to the beach while Jenn and I visited the Nantucket Winery. That was great fun - the entire notes are on line.
When we returned, we headed down to the beach to meet up with everyone else.

Soon, we found some entertainment - a crate! What more could one want from life ...

The waves were huge. They would go over someone's head if that person was merely in up to his or her waist.

Some of the children became one with the water ...

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Katie was brave and faced the waves head-on

Aha!

Oho!
Other kids found surfing to be fun

While the adults relaxed

Those waves are nice to watch from afar ...

Meanwhile, the gorgeous sand stretched out for miles

The waves kept rolling ...

And the tower lasted until evening

On the way home, we passed a pair of bunnies that were quite unafraid of us:

We had some dinner, and rested up. Jenn took her kids to see the fireworks, which we watched from the window. When they returned, we spent the evening playing You Don't Know Jack. Soon, it was bedtime!
