Urban Legends and Hoaxes:
Slave Reparation Act Hoax

Itīs pretty bad when hoaxters try to take advantage of the elderly. A series of fliers and email messages are claiming that "the Government is refunding monies to anyone alive that was born up until the year of 1927 due to the Slave Reparation Act." The message then claims that a person can get $5,000 by turning over all sorts of personal information (including your social security number!!) to a certain address.

Donīt fall for this! The people just want the information to perform credit fraud. There is no such thing as a Slave Reparation Act.
