What Makes a Great Smile?
Babies are born knowing about smiles. Adults spend thousands of dollars on perfecting their smiles. Just what is it about a smile that attracts us so much?

In an evolutionary sense, it is really key for humans to pay attention to each other's mouths. This is how we communicate with each other. Good communication is a key sign of good health, of good breeding potential to have the next generation of humans. Strong teeth are an important way to judge health. Then, also, the mouth on a woman is very much linked to sexual imagery. So especially when it is an encounter between two people who might have sexual thoughts, the mouth takes on added layers of meaning.
The teeth issue can be promoted or avoided, by having a smile that's open mouth or closed mouth. You can of course "work" on any teeth issues through teeth-whitening products, braces to straighten them out, and so on. Depending on how bad your teeth are and the industry you're in it may be very much to your advantage to pay the money to fix your teeth. It's hard to go through life with your mouth always closed! In the meantime, though, practicing a closed mouth smile can do wonders.
People react well to full lips. Thin lips are generally a sign of aging - the older you are, the less plump your lips are. So people are drawn to youth and vitality, and thicker lips are a clear indicator of that. If your lips are on the thin side, read the pages here on how to counteract that.
People like smooth skin around the lips. If you smoke, it is REALLY bad for your skin. It causes the skin to dry out and wrinkle - and because you're always pursing your lips (to puff on the cigarettes) you get what's known as "smokers wrinkles" on the upper lip. It is really unattractive looking because it looks like you're really old. I highly recommend finding a way to stop smoking for all sorts of health reasons.
Even non-smokers sometimes get those wrinkles. You need to make sure you take your daily vitamins and that you use skin creams to help keep your skin hydrated. Stay out of the sun. The healthier your skin is, the better it will shine and look. Drink ample water every day so your skin stays naturally hydrated from the inside.
Do face exercises. If you rarely smile and then suddenly you do, your face will have to "stretch" into an unnatural position - so it will look like a grimace with the skin pulled tightly against your skull. That's not very attractive. If your skin is used to smiling (or at least stretching) then when you do smile it will look natural and full.
Watch funny movies! So many studies show that smiling actually makes you feel happier. The act of smiling releases feel-good chemicals in your system. Conversely, the act of frowning releases stress hormones!! So actually smile occasionally, and it will affect your mood. If you watch something that gets you to honestly smile and have fun, all the better!
