Lotus Blooms
Murakami Kijo lived from 1865 to 1938. He had a hard life. Maybe having a hard life drives someone to write poetry to try to make sense of it all. In his case, he was slated to be a good lawyer and then was struck deaf, which made him unable to practice. Then his entire house burned down. He had ten kids to support through this all. His poetry tends to be poignant and introspective.moment two bubbles
are united, they both vanish,
A lotus blooms.
-- Murakami Kijo
Here is a bookmark I made of this haiku. This is a blue origami lotus flower I folded.
