Showboat Movie Review

If you're thinking of a riverboat cruise, be sure to take a look at Showboat! This classic musical features some great images of a Mississippi riverboat.

The ship isn't a passenger ship in any sense. In fact, at the beginning of the story a man tries to get on the ship, and is told they don't take passengers. It's only when the crew needs an actor later on that they agree to take him on.

The riverboat goes up and down the Mississippi, stopping in small towns and putting on musical shows for them. The actors and musicians get to ride along the river on the ship, falling in love, having fun.

Life isn't an easy one on this cruise. There's racism, women being abandoned by their husbands, parents who turn their backs on their kids. Still, the river rolls on, and it helps to remind you that things will get better.
