A chemical pregnancy is when your pregnancy lasts barely long enough for you to take a pregnancy test - but then miscarries shortly afterwards.
Over half of all first pregnancies end in a miscarriage, and usually the woman doesn't even notice, just thinks that her period is late or that she's missed a period. The woman's body is getting used to the pregnancy cycle and the hormone changes and often needs a time or two before it gets it right.
Nothing "wrong" causes a chemical pregnancy, it's just an incomplete cycle. It's only because our home pregnancy tests are so accurate nowadays that we even catch these. If you have a chemical pregnancy occur, be happy that it shows that your body and your partner's bodies are both fertile. Then try again next month!
