Brewing the Perfect Cup of Coffee

Here are some tips to make that morning coffee truly delicious. You might be surprised how much better your favorite brand can taste!

* USE FRESH COFFEE
This makes a lot of sense. Coffee is a food. It can get stale, and even go bad. Start with freshly roasted beans, and buy a cheap grinder so you can grind them yourself when you want some. Think of the bean as a protective shell. Once you grind it up, its flavor starts to fade.

* USE FRESH, COLD WATER
Coffee is mostly water. If the water tastes funny, the coffee will taste funny! Some people are blessed with great tap water, but some have water with off flavors. Try your coffee with bottled water sometime, and compare for yourself. Also, make sure you start with cold water for the best flavor.

* CLEAN YOUR COFFEE MAKER
Just like any other pot or pan you use in the kitchen, your coffee maker gets grimy. Those little bits of old coffee then taint any new coffee you make. Be sure to take it apart and clean it reguarly.

* DRINK IT PROMPTLY
Think of warm milk sitting on a counter, and how the flavor really fades quickly. Coffee is the same way. If you leave a pot sitting on a burner, itīll lose its flavor quite quickly. Even on your desk, the longer it sits, the worse it is. Reheating it really does a number on it too. Enjoy it while itīs fresh and has the best flavor.
