JRR Tolkien - The Proper Capricorn

JRR Tolkien is the author of the famous Lord of the Rings trilogy. He was a very proper Capricorn whose war experiences made him appreciate life.

JRR Tolkien was born on January 3, 1892 in South Africa. Capricorns are in for the slow, steady approach to life and this definitely suited JRR Tolkien very well. He focussed on an academic life, studying obscure languages, and eventually inventing several of his own. His writings for the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings were not so much just a creation of a novel but a development of entire cultures and histories for all of the groups in his stories. His numerous appendices and notes made the books seem like historical retellings of actual events.

One of his most famous quotes is "Not all who wander are lost." Tolkien would not necessarily take the fastest route to an aim - but he would take the richest one, full of the most experiences.

In Chinese astrology, JRR Tolkien was a rabbit. He was interested in beauty and style. That comes through in his descriptions of the forests and landscapes of his Middle Earth.
