1971 Christmas Stamp - 8 Cent Nativity - Stamp Photos
This stamp is of the Nativity scene. The baby Jesus is laying on a white blanket on the floor. Mary is to the right in a red dress with a blue cloak. There are three men looking down at the baby. The top says Christmas in gold. The bottom says Giorgione, ca. 1478-1510 National Gallery of Art, and then 8c US.The original image was called "Adoration of the Shepherds" by Giorgione, a Venetian painter. He lived from about 1477 to 1510. It is at the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC.
This is the Scott Catalogue #1444 Stamp.
This stamp is reasonably common, and a used stamp is worth about 5 cents (used).
