The King's Fool
BBC Series Robin Hood

I'm not sure that I really like this version. We start with Robin and crew cutting down a group of cutthroats, shooting them in the back. Yes, they are cutthroats, but killing the captain would be fine - just slaughtering the entire crew bothers me.

Then they take in the night and feed him - but extort him afterwards for the price of his food. They try to take his steed. Certainly people back then knew a steed wasn't just a "commodity" - it could be a very trusted "friend" in a way!

Soon, the knight, who is really King Richard, is back in power. He pardons all the bad guys (i.e. Robin and his crew) and then butters them up so they join his side. It's all fine until Richard just wants them to come off to Normandy and abandon their charges at home. One by one the Merry Men desert Robin, until Robin tries to speak up for the poor. Then even Richard abandons him, telling the Sherrif to kill off the whole group.

Robin, Marian, Much and Tuck escape to a group of standing stones, where they realize Marian was shot. She tells Robin she loves him. Robin calls on Hern's help, and out comes the arrow. That's it, the end.

I didn't really like the storyline here, or the lack of a real resolution. They just run off, they never face Richard. His friends abandon him rather quickly.
